Less than a week ago, my family and I embarked on a pretty spontaneous trip to Pork Klang Cruise Centre. My parents had heard that the Logos Hope was docked there and since the world's largest floating book fair was here for the first time ever, we decided to have a look see as it would probably be quite an adventure.
Walking up to the ship, I was completely blown away by the massive ferry-turned-ship's size. Photographs of it will not do the ship justice as it really needs to be seen by the naked eye to truly appreciate how beautifully big it is. Anyway, we were welcomed warmly by the crew who were volunteers from all over the world.
After paying an entrance fee of RM1 ( free for kids below 12 ), we watched a 2 minute video on the ship's introduction and then glanced at the photographs hanging on the walls of the ship's history. Then, we moved on to the main point of the whole trip which was to explore the 5000 plus books and cd's for sale. Since it travelled all over the world, currency would be a big problem so everything was measured in units where 100 units = RM8.
Everything there was priced lower than what you would be able to find in the market or your local bookstore. The range of topics the books covered were science, technology, sports, hobbies, cookery, the arts, biblical studies and philosophy. Besides that, there are also books on higher education subjects like sociology available.
All in all, it was a trip worth the long drive ( an hour or so for us ). We spent slightly over a hundred as we all got excited seeing the reasonable pricing. The Logos Hope will be docked at Port Klang until the 23rd of October. They are open till 10pm everyday except on Mondays.
