Thick or thin crust, the pizza is being revolutionised on our shores.

THE first thing one wants to do when served with a hot and delish pizza is to run the cutter across it.

The mozzarella cheese that melts and turns stringy on the surface adds a sexy twist to this seriously Italian creation, which offers more than just food to fill the tummy.

It is a comfort food with the flavourful herbs adding on a health twist.

Whether homemade, ordered at restaurants or pizza outlets, or bought ready-made from the frozen section of supermarkets, pizza never fails to bring out the “feel good” factor in just about anybody!

It is interesting to note that Malaysians only consume an average of two pizzas a year, a far cry from a pizza a week for an American!

Lawrence Ding, vice-president of Pizza Hut Malaysia, was on his calculator double quick when asked to compute the number of pizzas the average Malaysian consumes.

“At Pizza Hut, we sell about 100,000 pizzas, irrespective of size daily and this comes up to about 37 million pizzas annually. This is a very conservative figure, and it is a huge and growing market in Malaysia,” he says.
