Mamak shops are synonymous with Malaysia but especially with the Klang Valley. While they have always been found all over Malaysia, it was in KL that Mamak shops started going big time and staying open for longer hours.

The Klang Valley was the first place I believe to have 24 hours mamak shops.

Over the years a few of these shops have become big chains with branches all over the Klang Valley. One or two came over from Penag and became big in KL.

Among the famous names: Pelita, Steven’s Corner and NZ. There are others like Ali Maju and others.

I have two questions to ask.

Which chain is the biggest in Malaysia?
Have the taste of food in Mamak shops grown better or worse over the years?

Let's hear your views.

    To your question;

    1. Biggest chain in the country? That's difficult to say, but there seem to be a fair few of Syed Bistros in the country, and if the Pelita ads are anything to be believed, what with over 20 outlets nationwide.

    2. You
